Identifying Engine Rotation

Determining Rotation on engines with Outdrives
All engines with Outdrives are Left Hand,
Standard Rotation

Determining Rotation on engines with Transmissions

Left Hand, Standard Rotation

Standing in front of the engine and looking at the belts and pulleys, if they are turning to the right, in a clockwise direction then it is a standard rotating engine.

Pulley Rotation

Standing behind the engine and looking at the flywheel, if it is turning to the left, in a counter-clockwise direction then it is a standard rotating engine.

Flywheel Rotation

Right Hand, Reverse Rotation

Standing in front of the engine and looking at the belts and pulleys, if they are turning to the left, in a counter-clockwise direction then it is a reverse rotating engine.

Standing behind the engine and looking at the flywheel, if it is turning to the right, in a clockwise direction then it is a reverse rotating engine.
